Tropical Storm over Zamboanga

The above image of an active storm over Zamboanga in the Philippines.

This was a 10 second time exposure, taken from the flight deck window
of an Airbus A380-388 enroute from Hong Kong to Sydney.

Motion-trailing of the ground lighting emphasizes the aircraft's velocity...around 900km/hr.

Due the strong possibility of extreme turbulence, lightning strike or hail damage,
Airline Pilots will avoid flying though these weather events, however they often make
a spectacular sight as the aircraft is manoeuvred around them.

The moon (out of frame) illuminates the sky to the left of frame.

Alpha and Beta Centaurus can be seen upper right, along with Mimosa and Acrux,
the brightest star in the Southern Cross.
